The legitimacy of evolutionary theory.

I recently read a short article over at the Culture and Cognition Blog (http://www.cognitionandculture.net), which I read semi-regularly for my own edification and enjoyment.

There's a brief mention of a new book by the philosopher Jerry Fodor that attacks the idea of natural selection as the basis of evolution.  From what I understand his claim is that natural selection is not the way evolution works.  I've made some posts there about philosophy and science, and evolution too, so if you're interested, go check it out, it's fascinating stuff.

Review and discussion of Fodor's new book.

I'm going to try and get a copy of the book and read it myself sometime.

Now, when I will find the time is another story...

Dipping a toe in the cyber sea.

Here it is, my first foray into the digital lifestyle.  I'm not sure what will come of this, but my intent is that it be for discussing the search for truth, wisdom, and meaning in life by pursuing knowledge of the mind, brain, thought, consciousness, and mysterious forces that science may never be able to understand.

Anyway, welcome to my little cyberspace station, a virtual stop-over for electronic seekers of a better understanding of themselves, the world, and their place within it.
